The Women’s Collaborative for Colorado cohosted An Evening with U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor on September 1st. The event was moderated by Polly Baca and WCC member and Women’s Foundation of Colorado CEO Lauren Casteel.

“The Women’s Collaborative was thrilled to be a co-host with Metro State University of Denver for this inspiring event with Justice Sotomayor. The Justice was so down to earth and direct about the challenges she overcame as she kept her goals and dreams in sight. The best part of the evening was her roving the audience reaching out to the students to answer their questions, encourage their dreams, and give them the best hugs ever. She is a role model for all of us who want to make a difference in the world! What a great evening! Thank you to all our sponsors and our team from the Women’s Collaborative and Metro State who made this happen!” ¬†– Christie Doherty, Chair of the WCC

“Justice Sotomayor was guided in her talk with questions from two Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame inductees, Lauren Casteel, President and CEO of the Women’s Foundation and The Honorable Polly Baca, former Colorado State Senator. Attendees felt as though they were sitting in a living room listening to an old friend talk about her life experiences. The Justice made each student feel as though their question was the most important and that the answer was just for that individual. Her approach to everyone who was there was heartwarming, humble and very personal.” – Betty Flaten, WCC Steering Committee Member
